View Full Version : Democratic Socialist Symbols

One thing that always disappoints me about socialists is that we don't have a strong, well-known, radical symbol such as the "Sickle and Hammer" or "Anarchy is Order". Some suggest the Red Flag but its more of a physical symbol as opposed to a sign. Others suggest the "Fist and Rose" although this was adopted by the Labour Party of Britain when they began to move away from democratic socialism.

Have any of you encountered any sort of symbol the Democratic Socialists could use?

I thought hammer and sickle are also associated with socialism?

Hardly any longer, at least to the common man.

The common man isn't smart ;) . Just like me. I just made the worst thread ever, but I know I cannot wright, I can only draw :) .

How about two hands shaking as a symbol?

I thought the symbol for democratic socialism was a red flower on a white background, or something like that?

I'm a Socialist and the Hammer & Sickle is fine by me

I neither like nor fully understand why you're trying to draw a line between "Socialists" and "Communists" as for all intents and purposes they are the same thing

Democratic Socialists are unlike even the most moderate communists.

What about the 5 point red star? I always thought this was a symbol of socialism and communism.

As a Socialist, I disagree.

And Democratic Socialism is a farce that unfortunately more often than not is a synonym for Social Democracy.

Red for it's fasade, a dollar sign for it's true form.

The fist holding the red rose is the symbol for socialist international. I believe the british labour party now only uses the rose with no fist. Proudly displayed on SI's website.

The red star is more commonly associated with communism but does encompass the broader scope of socialism as well.

This thread is insanely old.

And a red star covers socialism as a whole.
