Hey, if that's what you've got to do to keep the repubs from getting their way, I say do it!!

pardon the source (http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/07/28/texas.redistricting.ap/index.html) (it's all I could find)

Don't be a fool, if they had the chance they'd murder you and eat your family. It's us or them!

Yes, I know. But the enemy of my enemy (republicans) is my friend, atleast for the time being, until I don't need them anymore :)

I'm behind them all the way, I've even met some of these guys--they are good people, despite what your Marxist generalizations would lead you to believe. You can say that the Democratic and Republican agendas are exactly the same...but you would be wrong. They are alike and both conservative but at least the Democrats are conservatives with some thought of humanity in their right-wing economic ideologies.

Just to sum up the issue at play here, the Republicans are using their large majority to do some pretty screwed up things...mainly to split up Austin (one of the state's most progressive cities) into four different districts--all of which would be heavily Republican.

Comrade antieverything,

[Republicans and Democrats] are alike and both conservative but at least the Democrats are conservatives with some thought of humanity in their right-wing economic ideologies.

I think that is fair to say. The parties are not exactly identical, but they are not nearly as far apart as the media would like you to believe. It is good not to stereotype them automatically as "Republicrats" in all matters, though it is fitting in some instances.

On the matter of Repubs in Texas trying to gerrymander the voting districts to further their advantage, you are very correct. This is a vile tactic that should absolutely be opposed.
