The government is allowing the meat industry to spray viruses on our food. Sounds good doesn't it. That's not surprising though since this is the same government that likes to brain damage children with murcery containng vaccines.

If it works, sure.

Who'd a guessed that a biological weapon would make a good plastic surgery replacement? "Virus" sounds all scary, but the idea of killing harmful bacteria sure appeals to me.

Obviously, I'm retiscent to trust capitalist industry to be at all responsible, but we can't reject progress just because it comes in a capitalist shell. With a healthy degree of scrutiny and a lot of monitering, this program could actually prove quite successful.

I take it though that you're one of those neo-luddite "organic farming" types who rejects the entire notion of improving agriculture.

All I can say is that if you're so against modern farming, why not "walk the walk" by refusing to eat food yourself? That way they'll be one drain on our already overtaxed agricultural system.

The only way to feed the entire world is to make farming better. That means GMOs, it means biotech, it may even mean "smart viruses".

So the fuck what?

um... what the fuck does that have to do with anything?

Well, would a more effective way then treating meat to feed everyone, is to stop eating meat and feeding our food. Then we'll have more then enough and wont have to worry about this whole virus bologna...

Agriculture doesnt need to be advanced anymore . We already produce too much food! Its just that capitalism wont allow us to use it , most farmers have to throw away somethig like 25% of the crop becasue its not pleasing to the eye , the super markets simple wont buy them because they arent red enough or arent 9.5% green , even though theres nothing wrong with the apple - its all just thrown away

- read NOT ON THE LABEL great book explains why its bad to fuck with your food - natural food is good - fuck with it in a major way and itll come ack to get you example bread used to be the giver of life , you could live off it for weeks with no bad effects , it had most of what the body needed , now with the "super " industrialisation of the food process it now gives you cancer .

This is another typical scheme. My question is if they keep trying to kill everyone off , wether through war or this kind of thing there will only be them and their family and friends left, how will they have to repress then? Maybe would should all just give up meat. Then again they will just find some other scheme or other to kill us. Remember the goverment and their supporters do much more evil things then we relise or that we can only suspect about.

What precisly is in it for them? Why exactly do they want to kill vast swathes of population? Also did you actually read that article or did you just see the word 'virus' and go apeshit?

I'll believe this silly little conspiracy theory if you can provide me with:

1. Motive.

2. Proof of the use of a substance deadly to humans.

I don't eat meat, so it doesn't affect me one bit. However, like Jazzratt said, what would be the motive? What would there be to gain? The topic title seems rather stupid unless you can prove otherwise. My humour detectors brought up a negative...

never said it didnt...

i said it wasnt necessary, and our goal should not be achieving the temporary pleasure received from eating a steak, it should be the long term pleasure of lowering rates of death by starvation.

scientifically, from one who works with diseases - all i can say is that i'm SO glad i don't eat meat.

this technology would involve consumers eating large quantities of live virus all the damn time. viruses that go into bacteria then breed and mutate before you eat them. and now they want ones to infect e. coli? well, gee - where else does e. coli live? what do mutant strains of e. coli do to your body? hmm - seems like it lives in the human gut, and when out of control will eat through your flesh like acid.

there would be VERY strong evolutionary pressure on both the bacteria and the virus to mutate into something that can live in the body, and the process of viral infection and replication is inherently mutagenic.

consider mad cow disease: there can be very long term effects of technologies (ie, cow cannibalism) that are impossible to predict and have no effect whatsoever on animal models. this particular technology is just asking for such a result.
