Comrades: I am doing some research on white racialist groups in my vicinity. I've tracked down some of their websites. sadly, I am not very internet savvy at times and so I was wondering how I can find out who hosts the website. I am hoping that a few strongly-worded letter might do something to the hosting company. How do I figure this out?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Run a whois lookup on their domain name. This'll tell you all sorts of information about it.

Take their website, lets say its http://www.omghitlerrox.com

go Start->Run->type CMD->type ping http://www.omghitlerrox.com

that will return an IP address of the server. Take this IP and plug it into one of the DNS lookup services that Xero gave. Lets say this IP is 1.2.3.4

If you can't find out who hosts it through looking up their DNS, you can traceroute their IP.

Start->Run->type CMD->type tracert 1.2.3.4

This will identify every node your packet goes through (your network card, your router, your modem, your ISP's network, the phone company, your target's ISP's network, your target.

Once it reaches its destination, you should have enough information about the nodes identified, that a Google search should give some info about who you should be talking to.

Zero, I will run that tomorrow.

I've got a name and an address from the whois thing that Xero showed me. I'm trying to figure out what to do with it though. The road that the person lives on exists, but it is a country road and the street number given doesn't seem to exist on it. The name of the host also doesn't appear on whitepages.com or on google.

Also, I live about an hour west of the place and the group isn't threatening my community. I'm just worried and trying to do some reserach. Maybe I can contact any antifascist groups in the area, though I doubt there are any.

Anyhow, thanks for your help, friends.
