I want to ask: Why is it that the vast majority of members in the SDS are white? I have seen photos on the site and nearly all are white. Im not racist, but I would like to know why there isnt a significant minority membership.

Perhaps because the large majority of students are white? I'm just guessing here, but I suppose black and Hispanic peoples (not to mention every other ethnic group in the US) are not exactly well represented in the US' bourgeious higher education system.

Yeah, you're probably right comrade. More of a reason to fight for a free school system in a free society!

MMm, that still doesn't explain it to me and is not a sound analysis. Is there a SDS on historical black colleges? Do SDS have any relevance to African-Americans?I know for a fact that the African American's on my campus as well as others, are more of activists than the white counterparts, but i doub that if a SDS was formed on my campus that it would attract a large number of black members.

I would suggest that the membership demographics of various revolutionary groups in the US is comprised mostly of educated white males, because it's actions have little effect on the actual class structure. ;)

Many of these groups live in a sub-culture of their own. One who is interested in that lifestyle would join them. What we must do is change these characteristics of our organizations to be mass democratic bodies of class warfare, not book clubs of interest to those who love the subject.
