I live in the U.S. so I encounter a lot capitalists and even worse republicans. When I discuss politics with one they never seem to actually defend their beliefs they just say socialism is wrong. I think they say this because they were brought up this way and their response is more reactionary than an actual belief. In this case I actually feel some sympathy for them. I don't hate them or despise them but understand that they are simply uneducated. When you encounter these people do they instantly bring about a negative feeling or do you feel sorry for them?

Those people aren't the capitalist. The real capitalists are the people who own the means of production and exploit the rest of us. They're not poorly educated and definitely know what they're doing.

No condolences will be necessary when we finally strip them of their power.

The other folk you're talking about are probably working class and don't deserve our pity but our instruction.

Here we go again. Chauvinism.

Listen, you don't instruct people. That's just wrong. But hey if you want to be religious, forcing people to convert and making them "see the light"...

That's perhaps the number one reason why the working class hate "communists" and communism. Because there are so many chauvinists that want to instruct the people like the people are ants. <_<

i'm afraid i've seen alot of that. not on here. it's mainly upper middle class "communists" that tend to look down on the working class as maybe, uneducated or simple.

Look up instruct in a dictionary

"give instructions or directions for some task"?

It's the same in guerilla warfare. You don't want to "teach" the "dumb, ignorant and primitive" peasants. You will learn from each other; you will learn from the peasants. And you will work together with the peasants. You do not "direct". You will not come and say "we know better than you! Stop your evil and backward practices!"

Class consciousness must grow within the working class. The working class must feel that capitalism is failing them, and then they must have the confidence to take power.

In the western developed countries, the workers currently benefit from their privilege. And so won’t fight capitalism at the moment, at least not on any meaningful scale.

When the western developed economies run into trouble, and there is a long period of economic turmoil, then the working class will have the opportunity to realise their power. They will be changing society because there will be no alternative, it is either change society or remain in poverty.

As to when, know one knows really. There was a chance for communism in the early party of the 21st century, but that has subsided. Maybe in a few years the U$ & UK economy will fall down and western revolutions happen.

If we aim to persuade people, we must try to understand and sympathise with them. That doesn't mean we should give up what we believe in, just that we should try to do more than anti-capitalist mudslinging and demonstrate where the reactionary worldview fails to match with reality.

Depends. I think there is a significant portion of workers out there who feel that capitalism has failed them, they simply don't know what to do about it because worker organization is so weak right now. I mean, the fallout from deindustrialization and the shift into a service industry base for many proletarians has certainly left a lot of people underemployed and angry.

The sad thing is that you're serious, aren't you?

The original post doesn't mention peasants - get off your hobby-horse. The poster was talking about what I interpreted as pro-capitalist workers. What do you suggest we learn from them?
