AND cheaper!
orthodontistry is something I've long believed to be ridiculous
cables and rubber bands?
what the fuck?
it's more akin to medieval torture methods than aesthetic medicine
so I recently got a hold of this nifty rubber hammer:
http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/images/th/thor-613-rubber-hammer-set.jpg
I will hammer my teeth into place twice a day
within a few weeks, they should be straight
after that, it's just a matter of occasional up-keep
cheap and more painless!
I will post before and after pics of mouth later

Don't be absurd, what about the anvil?!
There's no use to doing it without the anvil, and the horse shoes.

I don't get it

The fillings for the cavities. Use the horse shoe as metal, which is melted down to shards, and then use the anvil and mallot to beat it into shape.
Then get it melted and shove it in the guys mouth.
And that's how you become a dentist.

In caveman times they hit sharpened stick-like stones to fix headaches.
Supposedly some people actually survived these "operations".

Yeah they also used to remove stones from peoples heads to supposedly cure mental illnesses in mediaval times.
This is actually really interesting. Is it painfull RedZeppelin?

I wore braces. I didn't find them very painful.
How effective is hammering your teeth compared to braces?

Yes, but does it work? Before and after pics maybe?

I would love to see before and after pics. But are you sure that this is okay for your teeth? I mean a slow tension force on your tooth is a bit different than a powerful impulse.

God damn... ow. I have a real thing about teeth, there is no way I could do this. Good luck RedZepplin - if you do this more than once, you are a either a solid bugger or a fool :P

You know what i find *hilarious*
The fact that parents/teachers/society tell teenagers:
"feel good about your body!"
"love yourself for who you are!"
"stop trying to change your look to fit in with the cool kids"
"its important to have a healthy body image!"
"you need to eat something!"
"you shouldn't try to lose weight"
"just cause your friends dress that way doesn't mean you need to to fit in"
"people will love/respect/etc you for your inner beauty" etc.
But then, when it comes to braces, they're up for coercing their kids into what amounts to painful cosmetic surgery that negatively affects their apperance for one to three years during important social development stages of their lives.
Ultimately i think, parents hate when teenagers change their own bodies and apperance and make choices for themselves, because they still view their bodies as their parental property...but when it comes to imposing changes they want, well, thats fine and they are right to feel like they should be able to do so.
So much of the crap teens endure is about parental entitlement and feelinsg of ownership towards them.

You'll crack the roots of your teeth, you need to have a gradual (sp?) force on them.

Most teenagers with insurance get braces unless their teeth are "perfect", and this is done largely for two reasons: 1. orthodontists, like most preventive and elective medical professionals, are good salespeople who want to maintain employment 2. aesthetics.
If the human mouth was structually unsound naturally requiring routine artificial intervention, humanity would not have survived millions of years of evolution.

I needed braces as I had too many teeth in my mouth. My bite was becoming pretty messed up and I was getting headaches because of it.
Hammering your teeth is not a good idea. As atlas said, it can crack the root. Slow pressure (which I didn't find too painful) also allows the gum to reform its shape.

Assuming that the pain one feels is relative to the force being exerted on one's teeth, I am well-aware of the threshold of my teeth's roots
and it's a lot
i will surely faint from the pain before anything breaks

maybe if you did it right it could work, teeth can be moved without nessicarily breaking them. I got a molar knocked about 5mm out of line and then knocked back in place at the same gig.

as a matter of fact, I wore braces for several years (5 I believe), and not because my teeth looked bad, but because i had to, because my mouth was formed wrong.
TC, don't be so radical! :P;)

I have to wear braces because my lower jaw is too crowded and it could be trouble later on. I got them about 2 weeks ago, and they don't really hurt. Except now because they snapped and a long metal wire is stuck into my gum.

i know it's on doctors perscription, but it's still easy to get from doctors. just go to the doctors and complain about serious pain. Say paracetamol nor aspirine works. Be the social engineer you always wanted to be!
