no im not in college im a senior in high school, i just take college classes, and my dad nor mom contribute much to my education, they are struggeling enough just to keep food on the table for me and my brothers. I'm afraid your understanding is quite misguided. Communism is the final stage. Socialism develops naturally over time into Communism, just as capitalism develops into Socialism. There was never a Communist country yet.

There have been some power-hungry people linked to Socialism. But you need to look at this from a couple of perspectives. First of all, take the USSR. We can all see that it didn't work out. But many people here would agree that the USSR wasn't even Socialist, let alone Communist. Secondly, you also have to realise that apart from the left-wing and right-wing ends of the political spectrum, there is also up and down, corresponding to authoritarianism and libertarianism, respectively. In the upper, authoritarian field you find dictators and governments that are led by just a handful of people - this would include Stalin, Mao Tse-Tung, Bush, and various monarchies. You'll find that most - if not all - Socialists and Communists here agree with libertarian ideas, meaning that, for example, a government would be run by democratically elected councils, these councils consisting of everyday workers you find in shops, building sites, etc.
