It's a very good song, I think. I've heard it performed by the Red Army Choir and I like it a lot. I saw a video to it on Google and man I really did feel inspired. If there ever was another Communist revolution, I want them to make something like that because I do feel a bit inspired when I hear it.

I agree. I especially like the Paul Robeson English version (because I can understand it).

The Red Army Choir is amazing though...

I hate the Stalinist version of the lyrics. But the music is great and inspiring :)

Better than Australia's.... I've lived here all my life and can't even remember the entire first verse. And America's is just soppy.

As an adamant hater of the American government, I have to say in all honesty that their anthem is pretty good, both musically and lyrically

best national anthems:
L'Internationale
La Marseillaise
Nat'l Anthem of the USSR
Nat'l Anthem of Spain (no lyrics!)
Nat'l Anthem of the USA
Nat'l Anthem on Brazil (yeah, stfu, it's good)

The Soviet Anthem is easily my second favourite athem in history, only barely surpased by La Marseillaise.

Back in college me and a friend memorized all three verses ..for no particular reason. I took the 1943 version, he took the 1971 version.

The Soviet anthem is my favorite anthem, followed by the anthem of the Belorussian SSR. I like the original 1944 version the best, the 1977 version went overboard with the Lenin references and the onward to Communism remarks when in practice the U.S.S.R no longer was on that course. The current Anthem of Russia is terrible.

I don't like it, it's very nationalistic and basically stalinist in it's lyrics. The internationale is a much better anthem for internationalist socialists.

Yeah, you can say whatever you want about Soviet style Socialism and Marxist-Leninism, but fuck can they make a powerful anthem.

I have to agree with the person who said that the Internationale would be a better theme for international socialists. I love Allistar Hullet's version. Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1kDw_fh3VA) is a short with it.

I know it in English, along with the red flag and the Internationale. :hammer: Great fun for singing in pubs late at night with mates.

I can never remember the lyrics to the British national anthem; every time I try, I just get "god save the queen, the fascist regime..."

The national anthem of the DDR is also great! Perhaps my favorite along with the USSR.

Turkey and Palestine have good Anthems, as do Japan and Mongolia. Admittedly so does Israel, it is musically a good sounding tune, but they stole it from an old classical composition, who the composer was or what the song was called I forget, but it has a good ring to it. PRC has its moments.

The UK anthem has a line "rebelious scots to crush". Cheeky twats. God save the queen my big fat arse. When I was a kid they made us sing that shit. Now I sing the internationale and say fuck your god and your queen.
