****** Please circulate widely *********

This is a call-out from Mutiny - an anti-war group committed to direct action, and emphasising the links between capitalism and war.

September 21st has been called as a day of action against war and occupation, a day that the UN decided would be an international day of ceasefire. For some strange reason we feel the bombs will not stop falling on this day, that the apartheid wall in Palestine will not be pulled down, and that the companies profiting from and perpetuating wars internationally will continue to do so, business as usual.

This is why Mutiny is calling for a day of disruption, targeting those directly responsible for the social and environmental destruction caused by war and imperialist expansion. We are particularly interested in the economic support given to the Israeli State by transnational corporations and Zionist organisations; because the continuation of conflict throughout the world is facilitated by the involvement of companies, corporations, right-wing interest groups and governments.

The diverse spectrum of resistance needs to be fully realised. We feel that marching and having speak-outs is not enough. Other forms of resistance such as direct action, civil disobedience and occupations should be embraced by those who oppose war, imperialism, and the capitalist system that produces and reproduces them for the benefit of the elite; for politicians, CEO's, multinational corporations, and for which ordinary people pay for daily in blood and misery. The milieu of offices and buildings, coloured in drab greys and browns, is where this war machine is fed, where the deals are made, the technology of warfare innovated, the people who are writing the cheques that sit in the pockets of the war-makers, they are compliant cogs in the machine. Such acts of resistance can bring the consequences back to the source.

We are calling on all groups and individuals from all facets of resistance (anti-war, anti-capitalist, environmental, anti-Zionist) who are interested in such forms of decentralised resistance, to come together, to meet. The potential targets are many, and we have listed only a few examples below, offices in Sydney which groups can discuss, all suggestions are of course welcome. If you interested in being involved in a day of coordinated, decentralised resistance the time is soon. Below are some of the targets to be considered.

MEETING WITH ALL WHO ARE INTERESTED
WHEN: 6:30 THURSDAY, 31ST AUGUST

How exactly will attacking these places (not that I would care if you did) stop the war? I'm sorry but the war in Iraq wasn't started in order to make sure these goods companies had a new market. Of course if Iraq were tamed they would eventually find there way to the richer areas (poor people probably couldnt afford most of it) they aren't a direct cause of the war.

These make sense.

All those companies directly support the Israeli state.

The list is meant to be as long as possible, because the point of the callout, the strategy, is to get as many autonomous actions going simulataneously as possible to confuse and stretch the state security forces. Some of the sites are therefore less obviously linked to war, the war and the Israeli state than others, but we can't all do like defence contracters etc., and given that breadth of the call-out different autonomous groups will have different interests/goals/ideas, like enviro groups, socialist groups, or animal rights groups - will probably choose different targets because they have different political focuses. An animal rights group might want to target Estée Lauder for example, because not only do they have invest heavily in the Israeli state, but also (probably, im just guessing here) test their products of animals etc.

Yah, really, instead, how about:

ExxonMobil
Royal Dutch Shell
British Petroleum
ConocoPhillips
Total S.A.
Chevron

The international oil companies, who have all made an absurd profit off of the iraq war by using their increased control over the petrol market to raise prices (which was always the intent, it was never about making it cheaper to fill up an SUV, thats not in their interests) are equally good targets compared to the defense contractors (who are also obviously making a killing, both literally and figuratively)...but unlike the defense contractors, their assets are spread thin and unprotected ;)

I'll pass on the suggestion, need to do some research on whether or not those companies would have potential target sites in sydney city.

the day of direct actions has been moved to september 28th, due to lack of numbers because freaking sydney uni elections are scheduled for the same day *mutters about 'activist' students who would rather perpetuate representative democracy than do direct actions*

ok, im over it. :)

KBR - Kellogg, Brown, and Root - and CSC - Computer Sciences Corp. - are two of the largest u.s. defense contractors and have significant operations in Iraq. KBR is the company that houses and feeds all u.s. troops there and is involved in the construction of things like roads, airfields, and port facilities.

They are also good targets.

yeah, the last mutiny action against KBR was pretty fun. i'm a bit paranoid at the moment so i won't mention when that was or what was done *shifties*

hey ML - there are so far 3 actions that i'm aware of (could be more)

1. meeting at 10, not sure how long it will go for. depends on people's comfort/safety levels and police presence. am thinking no longer than an hour or two at most.

2. meeting at 12. pretty standard action which doesn't necessarily require loads of people so i'm sure no-one will mind if you leave a bit early

3. not sure when the third one is, as i understand it we'll move from the 2nd into the third - so maybe 2pm?
