I've just recently become leftist and have realised just how bad capitalism is and have changed my previous thinking to leftism. but my problem is i don't know the difference between any of the various leftsist thinking, or even how a leftist government would work. so i was hoping someone might be able to help me out, by telling me the difference between them all or giving me a link. that would be a great help thanks.

Main revolutionary leftist ideologies (note that many of them are basicly the same, as well as these being freely edited sites, so be critical while reading):

Communism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism)

Anarchism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchism)

Anarchist Communism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchist_communism)

Marxism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marxism)

Leninism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leninism)

Maoism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maoism)

There's a extreme number - what he listed was just some generalizations with some specifics...be careful, it might overwhelm you :(

just stick to one of the general types I guess.

Oh please don't give him that left communist shit.

Marxist theory (http://www.socialistaction.org/marxisttheory.htm)

The Communist Manifesto (http://www.anu.edu.au/polsci/marx/classics/manifesto.html)

Two good sources to start off at the very beginning with. Read some of Marx's works before you move on to Leninism and it's revisions, or even if you choose to move straight to various left marxist ideas. It is good to grasp some important economic and philosophical aspects of his works in order to understand Lenin, Trotsky, Pannekoek, Luxemburg, Mao, or whatever pleases you.

LOL Dali, I could say "please don't give him that Trotskyite shit". Whatever you recommend, there will be someone of an entirely different tendency that will have another link ready for the person who asks. Also, the Manifesto is nice, but it is most certainly not the greatest introductory work. We use a different book in my country(The Fundamental Principles of Philosophy, by Georges Politzer), but I haven't been able to find an English version on the internet yet.

Anyway, some links that I would recommend:

http://www.oneparty.co.uk/index.html?http%...l/standfor.html (http://www.oneparty.co.uk/index.html?http%3A//www.oneparty.co.uk/html/standfor.html)
http://www.oneparty.co.uk/html/marxism/Cl0.html
(these two are very much about the situation in Britain, so it might be less useful if you're not British)

Something bigger(anything that exists in book form, which you should read on paper rather than on the computer, IMO) but still quite introductory, is Lenin's introduction to Marxism:

http://www.marx2mao.com/Lenin/KM14.html

Another good one, IMO, is "Quotations from Mao Tsetung", better known as the Little Red Book:

http://marxists.org/reference/archive/mao/...-book/index.htm (http://marxists.org/reference/archive/mao/works/red-book/index.htm)

What I like about it is that all of the quotes have the source right below them, so you can look up those works here (http://marxists.org/reference/archive/mao/selected-works/date-index.htm) with your browser's search function if you find one quote particularly interesting.

When did I say he wasn't? I was suggesting that the child read some of Marx's works before he moves on to various revisions (Leninism, Luxemburgism, Council Communism, Trotskyism, Maoism, etc.).

Well, yes, but the link for Marxism had already been posted.
