I read the sections in that magazine on Freud and Marx. The author of the Marx article was clearly biased against him. It was emphasized in the article that Marx was not the warmest, friendliest sort of human being. The author took pride in mentioning that Marx was dependant on aid from Engels, whose family owned a factory. The right loves to argue that communism is just a way for lazy people to be cared for without working. I bet the author was very proud to emphasize that *sarcasm* Marx was nothing but a deadbeat himself *sarcasm*. What a fucking jerk, that author.

Hey you mean Sigmand Freud right?

I know he was the father of psychology, but was he a leftist?

Sigmund Freud was hardly a genius

What exactly constitutes a genius? Freud may not be a genius, but give the man his fair dues. For better or worse, the man was responsible for the creation of the foundation of psychiatry. No matter what your opinion of psychiatry is, he made the medical establishment realize that there is much more to illness than physical ailments. He was also influential in early 20th century literature, think stream of consciousness, Joyce and Woolf. From a feminist perspective he is extremely narrow in view, but that was the environment in which he wrote.

Ok, descending my soapbox now.... :P
