hey!

I just got my elections notice in the mail. I'M GOING TO VOTE ON THE 5th!!!!!

But there are certain qualifications that you need to meet inorder to be able to vote, here's an excerpt form the notification

Qualifications to vote
- 18 years of age on or before Election Day
-Canadian Citizen or British Subject (citizen of a Commonwealth Country)
-Lived in Nova Scotia for 6 months preceding the date of the writ of election Jul 5 2003
-Resident in your polling division on the date of the writ of election

So what's the deal? You can be a foreigner and still vote in the elections? Does anyone else have this in their country? Or is it just because the Queen of England is still the [figure] head of Canada (yes, really) You're shocked too huh ;)
But yeah, the queen is the head of the Canadian government. Do you think that if that was to change, British subjects could still vote here?

here are the parties I can vote for, notice that the NDP, Liberal and the conservative offices are all located on Hollis Street........ that street is infamous for hookers

I refuse to vote PC, liberal, or marijuana party. But I'm going to see what the novascotia party is about, if I don't like it I'll vote NDP (the somewhat-socialist party, lol)

Yes, I love that show.
They're all from Newfoundland and I'm pretty sure they film the show in Halifax :)

Actually, I don't know about Colin Mocerie, he's the newest member of the group after Rick Mercer left. But I know for sure that Colin's canadian :)

if i were old enough to vote, i'd be voting NDP. definetly, they're the closest thing to socialism canada has. and i really think that the voting age should be lowered to 16.

All the parties on your link kinda look like typical bourgeois politics to me.

Why wouldn't you want to vote for a "real" socialist party or even better a communist party?

Why aren't they on your ballot? Isn't that indicative of the ruling class political system?

I don't know why they aren't on the ballot :(

there was a thing a few years ago (1996 I think) where a party wasn't a "real" party unless they had 50,000$ in the bank. Or so much money for each member or politician in the party, or something like that. One of our comedians made a joke about it saying that "communists are real people too"

Yeah the voting age should be lowered to 16.

In Iran, voting age is 16, and driving age is 18 :)

coppergoat, I love your quote. It's excellent :)
