I think it may be the bigining of a revolution!
The Zapatists are the ones causing this revolt.
Serves the capitalists right! It was a bad election for them, so they just cheated all the way to win!
Hasta La Victoria Syempre!!!
What makes u think its a revolution??
And where'd u hear its led by the Zapatistas?
First of all, its quite far from being a revolution
As of right now, there are 2 crises in Mexico: one is in Mexico City where supporters of the PRD are blocking and protesting in large parts of the city, and the other crisis is in Oaxaca regarding a teachers strike
In the former, revolution is unlikely, when PRD supporters wanted to take over an airport and other institutions, the reactionary Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (PRD candidate for president) rejected and dissuaded them from acting on this impulse
Obrador is far from being a revolutionary or radical, he's just another bourgeoisie liberal who is trying to contest the elections that were quite possibly rigged
But regardless if they were or not, him being in office would be like Bachelet in Chile or Lula in Brazil
These so-called radicals are nothing but reactionary politicians that appeal to the masses with promises and lies
This is far from a revolution if I may say so myself....
PRD supporters are gonna keep on protesting until they get their man in office
If they don't, some will stay and protest, others will leave, and sooner or later when these protestors clash with the police, the entire situation will come to a close
That's what happens when the common ppl put their trust in one man rather than in themselves
They give up sooner or later, because its not worth them dying for one man

Now regarding the teachers strike...this situation is a lil more severe
After protests for better pay and demanding the resignation of the governor of Oaxaca, these protestors (the majority being teachers) have begun to take over buildings and radio stations
Just last week, they took hostages after masked gunmen attacked a procession of protestors (after some negotiations they let them go)
The authorities are at bay and haven't taken any steps to halt the protests
The city is out of control, yet the state's forces haven't been called up
However, the demands of these protestors aren't as radical at they seem, their actions have been aggressive, but their demands are not, and therefore it is quite a stretch to suggest that they want to incite a revolution
I think that the situation will die out as soon as their demands are met

In both crises, the Zapatistas have in no way caused or created the situation
I believe they marched with the striking teachers at an earlier time, and they have continually denounced Obrador for being a liar and reactionary populist
But their involvement has been so far limited, if not miniscule
Regarding the initial article, I'd say that American forces are cautious about what could happen if the election tribunal declares Calderon as the winner of the elections
This doesn't mean that there's gonna be revolution and such, but I think that they'll be protests and clashes
And in case corporate interests or the government of Fox or Calderon are threatened, the American forces are ready to move in and restore "order"
