Refugees

I'm currently writing a protest speech for school and i've chosen to do Australia's terrible refugee policy. Ive only recently opened my eyes to the problems in the world, and this seems to be one that we can change easily. Australia's policy ensures that we lock up refugees when they arrive on our shores, fleeing persecution. The government also ignores obligations of a U.N treaty regarding stauts of refugees (which australia has signed) which encompasses commitments that we will not deport refugees back into a dangerous environment. However just last week the Aus Gov. deported 9 Afghan asylum seekers back to Afghanistan...all of them are now dead. :angry:


just wondering about your opinoin on this? or your countries policy.

Refugees are to be treated better than the citizens because the only reason they went there is because they cannot live any more in their land because of all the violence committed against them.
In his heart, the refugee always wants to go back to his homeland, but because there are these circumstances, he can't.
I have seen the refugees here in Lebanon and I have lived with them, from the south,they came here to Mount-Lebanon and today, at the first sign that every thing is back to normal, they went back to the south. Even though its still dangerous because of all the bombs that didn't explode and the timed bombes still on the ground, and even though many don't have a home cause it got leveled to the ground, they went back!

So refugees should be treated much better!
