recently, i started "time and free will" by henri bergson.

while i do not always agree with many of his metaphysical conclusions, his insights into things like "the progression of a desire" and the relationship between art and morality are quite shocking. and, one-liners like "while this mechanical work may be the base of our psychological activity, it is not this mechanical work that presents itself to us in consciousness" are always fabulous to think about.

anyone ever read him? a philosopher that challenges determinism is bound to be interesting, regardless of whether one disagrees with him.
