Hello everybody, I'm a girl from El Salvador. I posted this topic since I want to read your opinion about my country and the left party, FMLN, if you know something about them. I'm a leftist and next years elections we all think that FMLN will win, and things here are heating up since the rich people are shaking cos they already know that they will loose. Post your opinions. US government is warning us everyday that if leftist win, a lot of transnational companies will leave our country (which sounds good), tho we have millions of salvadorean living there. Post your thoughts. Peace.

Any leftist party is great compared to the right, and I wouldn't trust anything the US government says.

What you want is for a really left party to gain power and the US sitting back and ignoring the fact. Of course this will not happen 'cause if a left wing gov got into power the US will move to squash it like they have in a multitued of other Caribeen (sp?) and South American countries.

They've done this in El Salvador before, I wouldn't be surprised if it happened again. Coup.

Seeing Red-
I'm half mexican half Austrlian,
My mother (la guera) lived in the Guzapa camp for a year (1984), with the FMLN, and was fired at a number of times and my family has many FMLN and FSLN ties, here in Australia and in Centro America....
The Salvadorians where some of the strongest Revolutionary forces in modern history,-
And the Salvadorians suffered some of the worst injustices!-
As for the elections; It seams Lefty Governments in Latin Amer. need to fight crime and poverty, (such as Mexico and Rio)
I was in Mexico D.F for a year, were the P.R.D (Quazi Left), has been fighting the crime rate and poverty, while also trying to set up an economicly equal lefty policy, in a country in side the U.S.A Imperialist sphere ......... And unforunately sometimes the task is a-bit out of reach, while trying to bee fair and equal, but being under capatalist Third- world Rule!
The Sandanistas lost in Nicaragua, because of the Blockaide, even hard core Sandanistas voted against Ortega!
So in Democracy the U.S still hold the cards, (this is why full bloated communism is the only answer) but at least El Salvador stopped ''los perros y los assesinos'', and scared the Gringos into accepting Democracy>>.

CienfuegosJnr, this time we hope that our left block win. Although, FMLN has a lot of problems inside the party. Also, the right party is making people scare about our situation: theyre threatin our people with facts that US will be affected if people vote for FMLN, that the economy will go down, that nobody wants to have relations with venezuela and cuba. The fucking US is trying to introduce ALCA with the entire central america region, selling us the idea that owning our country is a good and beneficious thing for us.
And now the right party is selling that idea, too. cos many rich people here sell their souls to the north american government.
Now, this time, we have to demonstrate again that we can still fight 'los perros y los asesinos' once again, into accepting left wing government.

Oh yeah, I've heard of the FMLN. I think most of it's members of former guerrillas or something.

But yeah, vote FMLN. Fuck the rich people, throw them out along with the US corporations. Will you really miss your people being exploited in a unionless sweatshop factory?
