(And apparently all those soy products come from areas where the rainforest was cleared to make way for the farmland.)

correct, much of the rainforest is being destroyed for soy plantations, but those soy beens are mostly used to feed the animals we eat. so its actually not the soy eaters destroying the rain forest, its the meat eaters.

a recent victory in the campaign against this (http://www.greenpeace.org/international/news/McVictory-200706)

report from greenpeace on the issue (http://www.greenpeace.org/international/press/reports/eating-up-the-amazon)

well i don't care about the rainforest so i'll still eat soy.
wtfffff TC! The rainforest is the source of the majority of the worlds oxygen supply, and it is a huge source of biodiversity, and contains thousands of species, plants, and fungi still totally unknown to human beings which could potentially cure countless different diseases. The rainforest is important!

It's a pleasure to pain ratio. Does the short-term benefit of eating meat justify the long term problems that can occur for the environment or one's health. I think no - other's think yes. Regardless, I try to view food as something I need - not something to enjoy - and this allows me to enjoy my favorite foods more because I have not been eating them every day.

i think that everyone has a valid opinion and the rainforest is very important , yes! , but i would also like to live a healthy life and not walk around like a stick like i see alot of so called revolutionary vegans . thinking they are being revolutionary just because they dont eat meat , fuck that... , i like meat , i like steaks and bacon and sausages and all kinds of stuff . although i dont agree with some meat like crocadile and moer rarer species . also to go with my argument i think the tobacco industries who make millions off us and the planet every year should invest in the rainforest . restricting sections of it so greedy hypocritical organizations cannot cut it down . then we might be able to see a vicious cycle which will actually do some good for a change . The more people who smoke the more rainforest we save :D lol , maybe a strange ideology but you do have to think about it. i dont smoke by the way but i like meat :D :D
