Yesterday on the news I heard that some strippers here in the US "made history" by being the first business that is completely and democratically run by its workers.
This is actually great news if you are a Communist! Can anyone find the article, it's getting minimal attention for obvious reasons.

I dont see why that would make the news, its surely not the first example of this in the US, there are a few typical ways of managing a business, firstly autocratic, the most common style, where the guy at the top make all the decisions, secondly Laissez faire-where everyone is left to there own devices, and dont really work together, and finally democratic, which is what these strippers have chosen.

well the "sex workers" in the UK finally have a union, but that's not quite the same. What we really need is a care-homes worker union.

This really aint great news if your a communist. This is really just an example of 'worker capitalism' so to speak. I think its a good idea for small companies but really the same old situation of rich and poor will crop up if it spreads too much.

That's very true Just Joe, I can't think of a single instance of real socialism, it's all bleeding "worker capitalism".

Worker capitalism? What an odd complaint, just because its dealing in markets doesn't automatically make it capitalist.

Now I get to finally join a union! My ship has finally come in.
I agree, who gives a fuck all about unionised strippers.
Just what the movement needs....The capitalists hold the government, but we've got AAAAAALL the crack-whores.
Don't get me wrong lads...I do loves me some strippin' birds. This is just to much.

Does 'the movement' exclude all women or just women who work as strippers?

So, strippers are okay because you like them, but when the strippers want to improve their working conditions and have more control over their work it is too much? Why?
Maybe you would prefer them to be 'crack whores' and have the same working conditions as 'crack whores', but they obviously take their work seriously and want more control over it and the conditions they work in.
Why do you have problem with it?

Where the fuck are all you commies? I'm trying to argue Marxism vs. Anarchism on the Theory board (Thread name "The Defense of the Revolution"), and the only responses I get are from anarchists.

I think that we have to acdept that capitalism is not yet far enough advanced for socialism to take over, we've got to build up the third world before we can really get going on a worldwide revolution, but at least these women who do pretty risky work now have greater security!
