I have completed a rough analysis of the conflict in Lebanon at my blog
here:

http://asayake.blogspot.com/2006/07/when-g...-will-show.html (http://asayake.blogspot.com/2006/07/when-grass-is-cut-snakes-will-show.html)

Among what I claim:

1. An emerging Shiite arc starting in Basra and passing through Tehran has
come into conflict with general Arab capital which is siding with America,
even as America loses its grip on Iraq.

2. The volume and destructive properties of the Israeli assault stem from
two things: injecting foreign investment into the rebuilding of the country
in order to prop up Lebanon as a bulwark in the Saudi/America vs.
Iran/Syria competition, or turning it into a battlefield for those same
powers.

3. That the large flare in anti-semitism after the invasion is the result
of a spectacular inversion, that if the Arabs can't be blamed for capital's
problems then the Jews must be.

4. That the left and the peace movement is complicit in this spectacular
inversion and deserve to be opposed outright.
