Death of a Salesman is one of my favorite plays. I auditioned for a play with one of Biff's monologues...the one where he confronts Willy about not wanting to follow in his footsteps (right before Willy dies).
This is also my 1000th post!! :D

I thought it was a brilliant attack on the whole money = happiness idea, the whole american dream, and even though it was a fairly controversial play at the time I think it still is today in some ways, and still very relevant, especially with America.
It shows that people can live their lives so deluded(ly).
Have you read any of his other stuff? The Cruisible was thought to be one of his best, but I prefered All My Sons.

I loved Death of a Salesman. It was one of the best required readings I ever did, and yes it still can be seen as very relevant in American society. That is exactly what drew me into it.

Arthur Miller was accused of being a communist by McCarthy. The only reason HUAC let him go was because he was marrying Marilyn Monroe, and they didn't want the sex symbol of America to be married to both a jew and a known communist.
