Washington Post article (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A37460-2003Jun26.html)

"The Bush administration pledged yesterday for the first time that the United States will not torture terrorism suspects or treat them cruelly in an attempt to extract information, a move that comes as the deaths of two Afghan prisoners in U.S. custody are being investigated as homicides."

The article doesn't say whether his fingers were crossed when he made this promise.

The U.S. government is one of the more frequent violators of the Geneva convention.

Yeah, we'll see. At this point I'm not buying into any of the bullshit the administration puts out.

Its a republican administration c'mon the U.S. might as well b called the Confederate States Of America till Bush is out. This country always gets fucked over with republican presidents, not that democrats are much better but we've or i have never seen anything wrong go on with a democrat....just scandles. But thats my opinion

The democrats would like you to believe they are the good guys... What about when Clinton ordered troops into Haiti? It took me a while, but I discovered that Walt Disney Corp. owns sweatshops down there that produce their textiles. You know, all those beloved Mickey Mouse beach towels and Donald Duck sweatshirts... Produced by 12 year old girls at whip point.

The Democrats differ from the Republicans only in that the Democrats are sneakier about airing their dirty laundry.

Well then they have done a pretty fine job of hiding thier shit cuz i know alot of people who are pro-democrat and anti-republican. But i really dont like chosing sides, mainly cuz of what u said...both parties are fucked up inside. The United States has really wierd policies, like i was thinking why can a president only be elected twice with 4 year terms each time, i mean what if one day we magically get a president thats wonderful and who tries and get us the things we need. He has his wonderful re-election but then his term is over and we get a shitty president. WTF? i dunno maybe this doesnt make sence since its the way politics run but i think they should re-think this idea cuz if its supposed to be what the people want, there should be no limit to how many times someone can get elected.

The law that said a president may only have two terms was made by the republicans after world war 2, Roosevelt (democrat) had just died after his third inaugeration, and Truman (Republican) was his VP, angry that this had happened (he had repeatedly stabbed Roosevelt in the back), he had a law passed through congress about only allowing two terms.

I think.

Ah, good to see that the Bush administration is changing it's evil ways-oh wait, this is BULLSHIT!

Just the fact that the Bush administration is condemning torture now suggests that it was acceptable before, or at least more acceptable. And yet, the entire case that the U.S. has against Cuba is that it holds prisoners without reason or cause and tortures them. It amazes me that almost no one in my country sees the irony there.

Right. The significant aspect of this, I think, is the implied admission that they have been torturing prisoners.

Not that the promise would even conceivably be kept.

The bush administration origanally stated in the beging of the "war on Terrorism" that all p.o.w. would be treated decently until convicted(what ever that means) There must be three parts to guns and bombs these days- jury judge and executioner

Bush is a capitalist

Doesn't torturing someone count as a violation of international law?

THe estados jodidos is the third country of most executions in the world... China is the first but I dont remember number two... As for torturing prisoners, the estados jodidos has training sites for military from so called 3 world countries, and they teach them torturing, so I think that the EJ (Estados Jodidos) uses all of the tricks that they do have in their bag.. To perfect torture.. Butchers...

1. The good people NEVER are reelected (Jimmy Carter)
2. The Public Vote for the BAD People (Imagine Ronald Reagan and Dubya x3)

I, for one, am glad that this system is currently in place
