Hmm... out of your list I agree with Run Lola Run, Reservoir Dogs, City of God, and Trainspotting.

The Edukators is a good movie, political as well.

Primer is a super good sci-fi drama, really low-budget too. Made on less than $10000

I'm not sure of the budgets on some of these but I don't think they were too big.
None of them were "big hits" except maybe "Sling Blade" and even then it wasn't really a big hit

The site that Enigma posted had some other movies worth checking out which I was going to include too.
