DALLAS June 17 —

The former plaintiff known as "Jane Roe" in the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court case that legalized abortion sought to have the case overturned in a motion filed Tuesday that asks the courts to consider new evidence that abortion hurts women.

Norma McCorvey, who joined the anti-abortion fight nearly 10 years ago and says she regrets her role in Roe v. Wade, said the Supreme Court's decision is no longer valid because scientific and anecdotal evidence that has come to light in the last 30 years has shown the negative effects of abortion.

Let me guess....the crazy cracker has "found god" right?

It's gotta be something along those lines. Either that or she's suffered a severe blow to the head.

It's one thing for her to change her opinion, and quite another thing asking the supreme court to set aside it's ruling.

Especially now, while the court is definitely conservative right.

I wonder how much money the pro-lifers and republicans offered this ex carnival barker?

Its going to be a bit worrying if the court reverses its descision. The US system is based upon the fact that individual administrations cannot change too much and this would seem to suggest that the 'neo-right' are controlling all arms of the government.

This is intensely worrying for all those women in the US who have a hard enough time already, but i have no idea what to do.

EDIT: I've just emailed NOW with the link, I think they should know about it, although no doubt they already do.

What to do: March alongside other pro-choicers with NOW and the Feminist Majority in April, write to officials, protest, support groups like Planned Parenthood, spread the reality of abortion (why its needed)

Oh, i forgot!!! Nevermind then!!! Well, you could still write to officials here and tell them that you are concerned about the welfare of american womyn.

P.S.- Ya, NOW already knows about it. I guess the press tried to reach thema and other feminist organization to seek a comment. The organizations didnt speak to them just yet. I think they are going to need some time to come up with something to say- its really shocking. I am seriously very scared.

It's times like this when I really think violence is warranted.

I think that men should stand back and either let women have control over her person or shoot the men trying to stop women from having control over their bodies. One or the other.

This is totally unbelievable. She is allowed to change her opinion but she should not ask the supreme court to overturn a decision just because she changed her opinion. A women has a constitutional right to recieve an abortion. People try to bring the fact that god is against abortion but then they assume that god exists. Which is not true. By the way in addition to all women being allowed to get an abortion all abortions should be free with socialized medicine.

She's a taker-backer. Just like when you were a kid and your friend gave you something, then a few days/months later wanted it back.

Sorry, but that isn't how life works. It wasn't just you that fought for Roe vs Wade, and you shouldn't take it back.

Sadly this is what our country is based on. We're all hypocrites that can't respect rights anymore.

Thing is people have to be responsible for their actions, and I know pro-lifers will use this to say people should be responsible for the consequences of sex, but I think to be truly resposible you have to have a choice, so if you choose4 to have a kid you have to deal with it and if you choose to abort it you have to deal with it, I'm not saying it's easy but i think people these days in the Western culture expect life to be easy and happy, that's not the case, life is almost always at least 50% suffering, you just have to deal with it.

EDIT: By the way don't interpret this wrong, I just mean day-to-day stuff, I don't mean major thigns like depression, I understand that things can be very painful and need a lot more than someone just saying "deal with it", what I meant was things that everyone gors through, and I meant deal with it with your friends/family/etc, not that evveryone should be able to cope instantly.

You don't have to worry about the supreme court listening to Roe. They can give a toss what she thinks.

What you have to worry about is the fact that Dubya is placing enough right-wing hard liners on the bench to win the majority in any vote. His has already publisised his intentions on overturning the law and there is nothing anyone can do to stop him short of....well just ask John Hinckley, Jr. He had the right idea.
