Chuck D defended Louis Farrakhan: That guy's right of Pat Robertson and left of Hitler.

Judging from what he's said in his music and interviews, along with the fact that he's pretty involved with Air America Radio, I'd say he's a bourgeoisie liberal...probably leaning more left then most Democrats, but still not on the radical leftist spectrum.

As far as defending Farrakhan or the NOI in general....defending or supporting groups like the NOI doesn't mean that you are "on the right".....national liberation is progressive, the leaders may not be, but the movements are. The NOI is a result of amerikan racism in the past, and the NOI wouldn't be around today if that same racism were not.

IF the members of NoI were truly progressive, they wouldn't have elected Black Hitler as their leader.

You have highlighted one aspect of chcuk d's beliefs an based your entire assumption of his political position on that.

http://www.marxist.com/ArtAndLiterature/pu..._enemy_art.html (http://www.marxist.com/ArtAndLiterature/public_enemy_art.html)

you should definatly read that article. a marxist perspective on the group.

the position of public enemy is not radical leftist and i dont think chuck would claim it to be, altho alot of their politics is heavily influenced by the Black Panthers as well as the NoI. As a huge PE fan i have all their stuff on DVD and in one part of 'Tour of a Black Planet' the S1w's are interviewed on their position relevant to the NoI an they say that as it is the principle viechle of black liberation in the US today it must be worked within, even if not all its policies are agreed with.
Chuck is silent over his position with the NoI and choses not to talk about, bt i expect its similar.

you need to look beyond there stance in defending a black nationalist organisation in the NoI and look at some of the other messages PE exude, for example shut em down talks of well shutin down the coporations
"the corporations owe
they gotta give up the dough to my town
or else we gotta shut em down!"

thats a far more leftist idea than the NoI's one of black owned business etc.
in fact i think that besides defendin the NoI and being muslims, PE's politics are often far closer to the Black Panthers than NoI an the principle reason they back the NoI is because of its power within the black nationalist movement.

:-P At least give me misogyny: When was the last time you saw one of Farrakhan's buddies treat a woman with respect?
