hi everybody..

Ok this is pretty embaracing for me to say this but i don't really understand what do socialliberalists really stand for,I recently have recieved news well kinda old news,that my grandfather wants to be part of this political group in lithuania called naujoji sajunga(new union)and they are social liberals,i have had chance to read on wikipedia what there political objective is,but i'm still not very informed on it,so pls could someone enlighten me on what is really socialiberalism,is it more towards kapitalism or socialism or in between somwere..?so if anybody can explane it to me pls do..

They're like the Liberal Democrats, if your familiar with UK politics (or live in the UK).

Basicly they believe in freedom (obviously), but they are common-sense capitalists, that is they believe for capitalism to be even close to fair, they need to preserve the "freedom of oppertunity". Therefore they are pro-welfare state, and in favour of the regulation of big business through the state, with anti-trust laws, licencing, enviromental regulations, minimum wage and workers rights etc. Fairly similar to social democracy, except they arnt so big on nationalisation of industries, and they view themselves as being more individualist.

To put it simply they are centrists, who believe capitalism is necessary, but that it needs to kept on a tight leash

hey man thank u for enlighting me on this couse i understood only have on what they have wrote on the wikipedia.org so apreciate it,and it sucks that my grandfather trying to be part of this bulls*it even do its wierd that he is trying to get in to that ish,couse he lived trought soviet times he was dedicated socialist and now this hmm...fu*ed up

Its probably not that bad. Looking at a list of their major parties, there are the social democrats (who New Union are in coalition with) and the Labour party (who was founded and run by a mutimillionaire...). They may well be the lesser of the evils

I plan to vote Liberal Democrat (social liberalists) at our next general election, simply because the other two major parties are right wing.
