View Full Version : Disgrace To The Republican Party....

So I was sitting around watching the news about Israel all this week when I realized something, and I bet all of you have too.
Other than saying that he was not comfortable with a cease fire, George W. Bush has done absolutely nothing in this Israeli/ Lebanese conflict. Instead, He's left everything to Condoleeza Rice to sort.
So you probably wonder what my issue with that is.
Well as I see it, Bush is being so cowardice as to not even put his own words into resolving this conflict because he lack the ability to render anything meaningful that wouldn't make the conflict worst.
Instead, he's to afraid of ruining his already ruined career and sending out some one who has almost no importance to the people in the Middle East to represent him.
Atleast if it was any other war touting Republican, Regan for instance, he would have least had the guts to say " let's kick some ass!"
So in conclusion, besides doing a horrible job of leading the richest nation in the world, he has also done a horrible job of doing what he claims himself to be, a republican.

Sometimes I really wonder why everyone calls Bush so incompetant. He has done many successful things to further neo-conservatism and is by no means stupid. For example, he has successfully started two wars, passed the Patriot Act (and numerous other acts that aren't as well known but equally disturbing), covered up the truths behind one of the biggest conspiracy in human history:9/11, and given the executive branch more power than ever before. I would not say these are the credentials of a man who is stupid and doesn't know what to do. I think the public started this sort of playful name callings in the beginning when Bush would talk to the nation, and fuck up every time. Currently, I think Bush has embraced his reputation and now does more and more to further continue it for one reason only: he knows his neo-conservatism won't be pushed further if a democrat is elected. He maintains his reputation for the reason that a new republican can come in and say "Our past president was incompetent. I am well-educated and know where this country's interests lay." Then Americans are convinced that well Bush was just stupid and not opt of being a republican, they just want a new Republican that isn't Bush.

I think that he feels that he'd have no credibility, or influence, in the hearts and minds of the leaders of the mideast nations. Condi is Secretary of State, the same office previously held by Madeline Albright. The department of State reutinely handles diplomatic affairs. The President can not do everything, or be everywhere, which is why there is a Cabinet.

Generally, leaders leave the dealings to the people beneath them and arrive to seal the deal. That's usually done to allow better negotiations to occur.

Yes, but I'd assume that on extremely important matters such as this the president would be more involved.

Or maybe it's the gullibility of the nation. I personally believe that he passed the act's and did these things whole heartedly out of his own personal beliefs, not to trick a nation of people for his own. When a president has that many supporters in congress it's not difficult for him to pass bills and start wars as it should be. The reason why he has so much power is because so many people agreed with him reguardless of the concequences.

I don't really feel that people agree with him on his policies besides the few dumbfucks who will always put loyalty before justice. I think its more of a problem with the way the majority of Americans percieve politics in general, ineffective and unimportant. It isn't that they agree, its just that they 1. don't know or 2. don't care. Americans are only for a war when they are winning it, so you can somewhat rule that one out. But as far as things like the Patriot Act and similiar acts, Americans feel unaffected because they would never feel like the one who is being illegally spied on and they are safe. My question is how this man still holds office when all this spying was uncovered and why next to nothing was done.

Bceause those beneath the leader might be a better negotiator?

Not exactly.
If the president goes and fails at negotiating, that's it. However, if an uderling fails at it, then the president can try.
You see, this is what happened after WWI. Wilson went to go negotiate and pretty much failed, he couldn't send an underling in when the top ranked leader had failed.

Despite the items mentioned above with regard to the 'successes' of GWB in pursuit of neo-con objectives, I would point out that these objectives are not his agenda! His agenda is somewhat murky, as he had no purpose in life until 9/11 thrust him into the limelight. When he could have had a blinding flash of the obvious and realized he was the President of the UNITED STATES he could have taken charge and done something worthwhile. Instead, he allowed himself to be led by the nose by the PNAC cabal into the Iraq fiasco and is pretty much being 'played' by those behind the scenes.
IF there were a 'clear and present danger' to the US and we had a darned good reason for going to war I *might* say that GWB is your man, because if nothing else he's not a quitter- it's pretty clear he'd rather go down on a sinking, flaming, torpedo-ridden ship than admit defeat. Other than that, well, let's just say he's not the sharpest tool inthe shed and leave it at that.
