I'm sort of a budding director (translation: I directed a one-act play one time) and I'm really interested in doing that more. While I think that it would be good for me to be involved with more "traditional" theatre pieces, I'd also be really thrilled to try my hand at some leftist productions.

Anyone know any really good plays with a strong leftist messages (preferably ones that could be put on for cheap). I found this great one act about a communist facing death under Franco, but lost hold of it.

In any case, any help would be appreciated.

You could try writing one? Tall order I know, but that would kick arse.

...Though that one wouldn't be particularly exciting to perform, I assure you.

He's a bit out of fashion now, but the other name that springs to mind is Berthold Brecht. I read the Caucasian Chalk Circle the other week and quite enjoyed it...

What about Emma by Howard Zinn (a play about the anarchist Emma Goldman).
