I have to admit, I don't know that much about Evo Morales. I don't know too much about Chavez either, but I know some.
I was curious how the "revolutionary" left views these two south american leaders when compared with each other. Who do you think is doing a better job? Who is more socialistic? Who is more popular with the people?

I'd say Evo has a lesser chance of being assassinated by CIA trained contras.
So I'd say Chavez.

i like chavez but he needs to sort out his foreign policy in the region, it's quite likely he cost the leftist candidate the peruvian election because of his interfering.

Chavez doesn't seem to care about people having to buy their own medicine and hospitals being out of medicine. He doesn't seem to care about conditions in hospitals.
And I understand Evo has put down many rebellions.

Since Im in the company of radical leftists, I'll take the liberty of openly criticizing both these men
Under different circumstances (discussing this among cappies and neocons) I would not criticize them as severely
Evo: http://freepeoplesmovement.org/fpm/page.php?132
Despite this, recent actions by his gov have shown him to be concerned with the plight of Bolivia's poor (nationalizing the gas industry)
Yet the poverty in that country has yet to be fully addressed and reduced
Socialist, maybe not, more like a reformed capitalist
Only time will tell whether his MAS party can truly become socialist
Chavez:
Chavez is a radical bourgeoisie liberal who is obsessed with spreading his anti-American sentiment (and rightly so, the US gov almost overthrew him back in 02)
His oil companies are in the hands of a select few, and despite the fact that they provide oil for Venezuelans and rack up billions in profits from the sale to none others than the US businesses, these companies are not in the hands of the ppl or workers, but rather in the hands of a rich few
As seen throughout Caracas and other Venezuelan cities, the poor and inadequate neighborhoods are like a scar that overshadow any progress that the gov has made for the ppl
There are thousands if not millions of poor that are still waiting for Chavez to fulfill his promises
In addition, the state is not made up of common everyday people
Liberal and conservative politicians make up the gov, thus the ppl are not in power
There are more serious problems which we can discuss, but this is not the thread
My vote is.....for neither of them :P
Im for the ppl comrades, when the ppl are in power, I'll vote for the leader that put them in power

Iran hopes to be an imperialist country. So, it's not really against imperialism, just against american imperialism.
