I doubt he's trully running the country on his own. I doubt any US president ever did that.
You have to remember money is everything to the capitalist American government.
Money leads to power, power leads to supremacy, and so on. Very capitalistic.
This is to say that one man alone couldn't run such an infernal machine. It is the work of several men, regrouped in corporations. What they say goes. Look at the oil companies. If invading another country is necessary so they can run a pipeline through it's territory or steal it's oil reserves, than the invasion must happen. It's not a matter of dignity or diplomacy, it's all about the money. GWB is too dumb to realise what's truly going on in the world, and that makes him the perfect puppet for the administration.

I think Bush is actually quite intelligent, but puts up "being dumb" so he can relate to the general American public. Compare him to Al Gore, and you can see how he was trying to relate to the common man, and not act as an intellectual superior.

Due to the nature of capitalism, LL is correct. Big business does indeed play a large role in the legislative actions this country. Dubya however plays a major part. I will list the two biggest powers of the president.
A) Veto power. This is a huge factor.
B) Ability to hand-pick the bench of the Supreme Court.

Why you ask? Well dig this...If the president signs a bill into into law, the only way it can be revoked is by order of the Supreme Court. Now, if you place the majority of seats with members of your own party....well I believe you get what that means.
So anyone that says the President holds no "real power" has never paid attention to the Governmental policies and workings of a Republic.
On to Dubya. The man may be a wee bit dim but he is indeed a brilliant politician, hands down. Look at what he gets away with? (I don't believe I have to list them since we all know) This is why I would love to see this sneaky bastard die of a "stroke".
Bill Clinton would be considered in the top 3 of the most effective presidents in US history and went through impeachment hearings for getting his knob sucked by a chubby tart that wanted to fuck her way up the ladder.
Remember comrades, the Bush family is the Kennedys of the right-wing. They are not to taken lightly.

He means if the United States stopped giving Isreal billions of dollars they wouldn't be able to support such an advanced army. This would lead them into serious millitary troubles, and I'm sure their still angry neighbors would just love to get revenge. Egypt, Lebanon and Syria would litterally eat the country up. Not to mentin the Palestinians.

Did you not read my post right above yours about how a republic operates? There is no such thing as a "hood ornament" in a republic.
