I guess you could call them hip hop, but most of their music defies category. They're anticapitalist and just a good band as well. Has anyone heard of Spearhead?

Yeah, they're okay. It's real sad though, Franti becomes more of a pacifist liberal (well more than before) as every year passes :(

i've been into franti for an age now, but he's gotten progressively less progressive. or at least much less radical. check out his first outfit, the disposable heroes of hiphoprisy for real revolutionary style stuff. while he was with spearhead he was still dope. once he went solo though... <_<
i saw him a few months ago, and was incredibly disappointed. not by his talent, which is undeniable, but he was singing tracks of his latest album which was not then released and i hated em. he also screened his film beforehand and i felt nauseous at his pacifist liberal support of american troops in iraq and the idf - "they're just people too!"

Reformist crap. Can't say much more than that added onto what RB said.
I do wonder what Franti's opinion of his old stuff is though...?

Franti is a **** and ruined my New Years with his evangelical preaching pseudo-religious bullshit.

I haven't listened to any of his newer stuff for a couple of years, I wasn't aware of his change in politics. It sounds like he's had a major shift in his political outlook.
