I don't see why anybody rational would prefer either the authoritarian and moderate Islamist National Front (I'm too lazy to look up the Malay name for this shithole of a political party.) or the far-right and Islamist PAS to the anti-Americanism, secularism, democratic socialism, civil libertarianism, and egalitarianism of the Democratic Action Party. (That being said, I have little sympathy for Chinese living in Malaysia: A large number of them are Anglicans, and the Malaysian synod of the Anglican Church is extremely homophobic. While I theoretically support equal rights for all, I think it's unfair to give Chinese in Malaysia equal rights if they're not willing to extend that same courtesy to sexual minorities. Rights are not universal: They're reciprocal. If you believe you have the right to an abortion but support criminalising me for smoking pot, then you can fuck off. I'm pro-choice, but if you want to control your own body, you'd better grant me that same right.)
