View Full Version : We Must Fight The Economic Battle First.

Comrades, I must say I have come to a very important realisation. Too often we want to fight the political battles first, fighting elections with scant resources meaning we wont have a hope for decades, hoping for a revolution that will never come as long as we wait for other people to do it and campaigning on single issues which even if we win, the rest of capitalism will still be alive and well.

No these routes are dead ends. The political revolution will not happen until we challenge capitalism where it really hurts-the economy. When Feudalism fell and was replaced by capitalism along with the revolutions that forced it there was economic pressure before hand. And we must do the same to destroy capitalism. If we can't get the government to go along and do this-the government can go to hell. We can do it ourselves.

What I mean is, a Communist, Socialist or even anarchist society will be predominantly based upon co-operatively owned and run businesses. No more capitalists, no more profiteers, no more exploitation of the labour. All business (if that is the right word) owned and run by the workerts. Of course certain industries may well need to be directly state run, but for the time being there isn't anything we can do about that. We must have the government before we nationalise.

So my proposal is this. We set up our own co-operatives right here, right now. We found and run businesses owned and operated by their own workers, functioning ethically for the good of the whole community. In some parts of the world this has already been done and is very succesful, we need to expand it. If we expand it enough we will start pushing pressure on the capitalist system and the political process. When things start going our way economically they will start going our way politically.

But here comrades, is the catch. We can not sit around and wait for others to start this. We must do this ourselves. We must found these businesses. We must work for them. If we don't challenge the capitalists and show a much better economic model that actually works-who will? Personally speaking I have a few more years of study i am loathe to give up, but once i have completed them I intend to get involved in this, and I hope you all will to. Comrades, who is with me?
