Y'llow good day to all of you!

I'm Raccoon, 18 years old, male. I live in Belgium, that's in Europe. I'm fond of (military) history, video games, sports, movies, music, etc. I'm in the Belgian army but I don't know how my branch is called in English  . I'm also fond of the ideal world, that's why I visited this place ;) .
Next year I'll study history at university.

I use Raccoon as a nickname because I'm against the brutal hunt and abuse of raccoons... fur you know. I use this nickname on many sites and forums I visit, so if you come across this nickname with the same e-mail adress you can always feel free to PM me :) .

Cheers, Rccn

Because I'm interested in history, and especially wars and peace processes.I'm fond of tactics and strategy, etc.. I'm not a 'full' soldier, I only train for several weeks per year. I can still study and later have a job. I train to become a soldier, and the army uses civil my capabilities if they need them. in Belgium they call it a 'reservist'. I don't know if it's the same in Englsih  .

Well, we do need more comrades with military training.

Welcome, Racoon. How would you describe your politics?

Belgium has reduced its army from 110,000 soldier to 30,000. In theory it has evolved from a defensive force from the cold war to an army that can be effectively deployed all over the world for humanitarian actions in the future (that's why Belgium is going to sale al its Leopard tanks, as tanks are only for aggressive means). That's why I'm in the army :) .

Thx for the welcome. My politics? I'm a bit naive and I believe we have two main options to achieve my main goal: peace all over the world. It's either a sudden change to a communist world (more or less, it's never that easy ;) ) or capitalism where profit is given to who ever needs it most. The last option will eventually evolve to a type of communism I guess :) .

I have much to learn, that's why I came here too :)

Good day,

Welkom, ik ben ook van België! Vond het een beetje vreemd dat je in het leger zat, maar ja, als reservist voor humanitaire acties begrijp ik het natuurlijk wel. :)

(Translation: Welcome, I'm also from Belgium! Thought it was a bit weird you're in the army, but well, as a reservist for humanitarian purposes I guess I can understand)

capitalism where profit is given to who ever needs it most.
That's not capitalism anymore, that could be described as socialism :)

Moest je het nog niet gevonden hebben, we hebber hier ook een Nederlandstalig subforum (http://www.revolutionaryleft.com/index.php?showforum=62) ;)

I think the British version might be the Territorial Army, like a part time soldier, I could be wrong?

Anyway, Welcome to the forum.

In the US, it's called the same thing.

A part time soldier, like that. More a civilian than a soldier. Even though I only train for several weeks a year, the army can still send me to foreign countries for months if they need my civil skills.
