It's a great movie. I think Loach is a leftist, he's involved in several left-wing organizations and his other movies are very left-leaning.

He made another great film called "Sweet Sixteen" I believe, thats another highly rated film.

Yes, I have Land & Freedom in my dvd collection, its brilliant.

Loach is an elected member of the Respect Coalition's national council.

Edit: But, yes, a very good film. 'The Wind That Shakes the Barley' is said to be as good, though i'm yet to see it.
