The Australian League of Immigration Volunteers (ALIV) is searching for volunteers interested in making a difference in the lives of asylum seekers in NSW.
ALIV is a non-politically or religiously affiliated organisation. It runs programs both for adults within Villawood detention centre and with the families who were released from detention in July 2005, yet remain socially isolated as a result of their unascertained legal status.
As a volunteer, you can be involved in activities including:
- Teaching adult English classes within Villawood
- Partnering with a family for monthly excursions
- The Youth Buddy Program
