What were Rage's beliefs? People on this site say that they weren't anarchist, but my Social Studies teacher said that at a Rage concert, the backdrop of the stage was an American flag with an Anarchy symbol over it. At the same time tho, in the video for Sleep Now in the Fire, Tim, the bassist, is wearing a CCCP shirt. Last time I checked, Leninists/Stalinists and Anarchists hated each other.

I'm pretty sure that the members of Rage were socialists. At least their politics were.

Yeah...they were socialists.

They broke up because they all thought that Zack (Singer) was to serious about starting a revolution. And they just wanted to make music.

about the anarchy logo: I've got some communist friends who like that too and use it quite frequently next to their hammer and sickle clothes.

They are "musicians" with incredible amounts of money who will do anything if it will sell. They don't care about politics as much as it appears.

Anarchist I thought. They did an interview with Chomsky.

In their one of their CD booklets (can't remember which CD), RATM included contact info for different radical organizations. Prominent among those were a bunch of front groups for the Revolutionary Communist Party USA: Refuse and Resist (which help organize defense of abortion clinics), October 22nd. Coalition Against Police Brutality (I know there are other good folks involved in this), and the Committee to Support the Revolution in Peru (CSRP). The last one supported the Communist Party of Peru, i.e. the Shining Path. :o

Of course, this was the mid nineties, which was an absolute low point for radical politics. So I guess they took what they could get.

Why are we having this thread again? There are numerous threads on this attrocious band, why do we require a new one, when we already have a perfectly good search function?

In other words, 'rich-socialism'.
