I was wondering why you refer to evryone that is not pro-communist, anarchist, socialist etc as a "Cappie". I dont take any of those titles but I also dont consider myself a Capitalist. I am a person who lives in Capitalist society like I assume most of you are, but I dont go to any Capitalist rallies or meetings, I dont suscribe to any Cappie literature (Fortune, Forbes etc.).

Is it just easier for you guys to paint anyone who opposes you a Cappie?

Personally, I would label anyone who believes that capitalism should be the economic system, whether the reason be because they believe it is better or because they think it is the only feasible system, a "cappie".

Although to be honest, I've never typed it until now. I don't really use the term.

There are many ways in which someone could oppose my views and I would only call them a "cappie" if they were different from me in this particular respect.

Isn't this pretty obvious? Anyone who supports the Capitalist system...

Economically, a capitalist is the mental and economic genius enabling production.
I would expand this to workers however, since they are capitalists over their own human capital.

Philosophically, one who beleives in the individual rights which are necessary for human rights - which produce a fair trial for example.

Broadly, anyone who likes money or collects it.

That was a pretty fucking stupid remark, wasn't it? I think if that were the case then most (if not all) of this board could be considered cappies.

Yes, he runs the factories. A capitalist is an economic term.

That would make just about everyone capitalists; something you wish to be true but know could not possibly happen.

'Cappie' in casual speech is a pejorative term meaning one who supports the Capitalist mode of production that operates in the vast majority of countries, and opposses an alternative mode of production based upon the Social ownership of the means of production.

In marxist economic Analysis, a Capitalist is an individual or group that owns the means of production and purchases the labour power of workers to produce commodities, which are then sold to generate a profit for the Capitalist. In the Market for labour, the Capitalist is the 'demand' component, and also the determinant of price.

I think that the engineers are more important than the MBAs when it comes down to it. I wouldn't count managment as being a "genius" in most places. If a company is as Intel, where it was started by engineers who designed the products at the beginning and still do -- they have earned their keep. These people who are brought in to run the show and lord over the people who do the work? screw them.

as for labour being capitalists over their human capital... its statements like that which make people want to be Communists or Socailists. Just saying... if I were really in charge of my own "human capital" i wouldn't ahve to work for anyone else. I could ahve my own plot of land and raise my own food and family and make what I can and trade for what I can't (which is something different from socialism or communism, as well as capitalism).
