Religion A Waste Of Time

I'm watching every year the orange march in Belfast on tv
I'm watching the hadj in Mekka.
Problably I like to be annoyed sometimes.
That's why I'm watching it.
But I never can understand why people waste their valuable time on that kind of shit.
Killing in the name of religion.
Mistreating women in the name of religion.
Discrimination in the name of religion.
Sorry my comrades I'll will never understand that kind of shit!!! :angry:

They waste their time on it because they were indoctrinated as children, before they could rationally weigh out the evidence for and against their religion being true. So by the time they became adolescents and started to develop critical thinking skills, the fear of hell and the comfort of wishful thinking (immortality, a built-in cosmic justice system, etc.), combined with the natural reluctance people have to admitting they've been wrong about beliefs they've held for a long time, have blocked out almost all rationality when thinking about their own religion.

Also note that young adolesents from fucked up back grounds take up religion for the peer comfort and acceptance.

The same works for Soldiers or others with a first hand knowledge of violence or other things that have frightened them to extreme levels.
They want to dedicate themselves to somthing that helps people and gets their lives on a straight line, not realising that the thing they take up those more harm then good.

And people that are easily impressed can turn to religion to explain coincidences or experiences in things they have seen.
