"LABOUR PUSHES £70MILLION BOOST TO UK SCHOOLS"
I saw this headline in the paper and thought, "Finally, a big step towards improving standards of schooling".
But then I read on.
The government has warranted spending £70million on "increasing the amount of cultural activities in the school day".....What?
I find the tolerance of teachers quite remarkable. NUT have got to attack this new piss-take by Blair and his buddies. Do they not think that, before "increasing the amount of cultural activities", they should be paying the people who educate the youth of this nation a bit more than the laughable salaries they are on at the moment?
Forutnately, it is likely that NUT will continue in it's recent slating of government incentives. The Union is finally standing firm against the government and there finally seems to be some unity within the group.
For now, we just have to take this policy with tongue-in-cheek, as usual. Hopefully though, the Union will act.
I'm thinking, how will they fit in these "cultutal activities" amongst all the bloody exams pupils are taking anyway.
Any thoughts?
