My friend and I are two communists here in Albuquerque. We wan to make some flyers to promote Communism and this site. I was wondering if it would be entirely illegal to use Wolverine (of X-men) to promote Communism. We were thinking of a battle-worn Wolverine standing over the body of Bill Gates or Dick Cheney or Donald Trump, yelling "Spread the Red" with his claws extended. (Then again some might think it contradicting to use the icon of a popular franchise perpetuating the capitalist system as an advocate for the revoluationary left...)
If it is (both illegal and unpleasantly contradicting), then we'd just use a character who looks like Wolverine, minus the claws, inserting a hammer and sickle in his hands, still standing over the body of some well known capitalist or reactionary politician yelling the same slogan.
Then for revleft we'd use a crow of people holding up assorted flags of the left.
I was also wondering if there was someone who wouldn't mind coloring the drawing for me. I can do line drawings, but coloring just ruins it for me, but I know other people can color it and make it look fantastic. So, any suggestions and help is appreciated. :)

As far the copyright, fuck it?
As for using Wolverine, i prefer your second idea, i.e. use somebody else.
There's some good pics of communist super heros' in this thread:

Which might help you.

Indeed, go with the second idea. Have a big brawny guy, much like Wolverine, holding up the old hammer and sickle (or some other labour implement) and you have instant appeal to all sorts of working class guys. Obviously tailoring the flyers for different audiences would be best. You don't want to put up said flyer in a university campus, for obvious reasons.
Good luck with the campaign :D

Yeah, I was thinking of a little child or something huddled in the corner bound in chains marked "capitalism".
Thanks for your ideas, everyone. =D I'm gonna get started with my friend the moment I can find my pencils again.

I was looking at some of the old world war two flyers of women in the workforce. I was going to probably use a whole crowd of diverse people holding a red flag for another flyer idea. I'll scan them when I'm finished with them. I wonder what likeness of a woman I should use...

Maybe not use WWII flyers since they were created by the government to generate nationalism and get 'women' involved whilst remaining very patriarchal, though perhaps if you plan to alter the images? I dunno, i suppose it would depend on what the images look like.

Oh, I wouldn't use them specifically, but I would have flyers with both men and women in them of varied backgrounds all united waving a red flag. It would be my own creation, but I would source other propaganda material. I'm looking for old USSR WWII flyers that called to women, too. I'm having a little difficulty finding them.

Check the links in the image resources thread that is stickied at the top of this forum, there's links to some soviet poster collections etc. you might find what you're after there :)
