Ideology is a cluster of ideas of specific social character, orientated around one departure point, which is, in its essence, a fragmentary vision of frozen totality.
By its internal logic, every ideology – as an abstract pretension towards the universal – seeks to become a realized totalitarian vision of reality. By its place in the world, it is a class society’s foundation of thought.

Well, anyone who is intoduced to Guy Debord and his Society of the Spectacle may see that this definition was inspired by a pretension to draw out a clear definition out of his theses on "Ideology Materialized". Any comments?
