I'm looking for a documentary or video that specifically critiques capitalism (not simply the WTO, IMF, or something) or a video that pushes communism or socialism to show to people who don't know anything about it. I know about the Manifestoon and the socialism video on google by the English guys, but I was wondering if there were any other good ones.

If you can get your hands on it, the History Book series is an series of animated films that was made for Danish school kids in the 1970s. It explains, capitalism and history from a Marxist prospective. Almost anyone 14 years or older could sit down and after watching it, understand and explain basic concepts of Marxist economics and historical materialism.

It starts with the development of capitalism in Europe, the change in the mode of production from fuedalism to capitalism, the rise of the bourgeois class and the role of merchants, colonialism, world war 1 and 2, the Russian revolution and people's resistance in Africa and other parts of the world; and much, much more.

The only place I know to get it here is at the University of Toronto Robarts Library, but I'm sure it is available elsewhere as it is in English.

Edit: I found where you can buy it, but it's $295:

I'm going to try to borrow the VHS tapes and get them converted to DVD, then rip to XviD/AVI and upload to a torrent at some point.

Check out capitalism & other kids stuff (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3072291302771620276).

Also, issue one of Truth Video Magazine (http://freepeoplesmovement.org/fpm/page.php?19) is coming out in about a week, and I think you'll like it ;)

That would be great. I don't think they have them at any library nearby. I'd have to drive 5 hours or so to get it. On second thought, I might be able to get it on interlibrary loan, I'll have to see.

Ah yes, that's what I meant by the socialism video by the English guys :D
