Pardon my ignorance but isn't there a communist/anarchist super hero anywhere?

How is that intro reinforcing cappie ideals? The only thing I could see that would be even the least suspect is Spidey busting the guys robbing the jewellers, and thats pushing the reasoning a bit.

As for Commie superheroes, I believe the USSR (along with several other countries) tried copying Superman - had Kal El (nerd points +5 :P) land in some part of the USSR and have him become a folk hero, with a hammer and sickel in place of the trademark S. Apart from that, I have no idea.

Don't really see any pro-capitalist propaganda there. The jewelry shop was worker-owned =)

I recall many cartoons from my youth stressing things like cooperation, sharing and equality, hardly capitalist values. Not to mention Captain Planet, which was decidedly on the side of eco-terrorism.

The Smurfs were counter-revolutionary.

Think about it - Papa Smurf, the wise leader of the blue people who all the others look to, dicating how their efforts should be best spent. The... meh, I can't be bothered to make up shite any more :P

Well it isn't as bad as the Flintstones, where the ruthless exploitation of the proletarasaurus class is blatant.

If you look at that Spiderman intro. again you will see that the thieves have four bags altogether. Does a worker-who is the boss.

The two thieves are small retail thieves stealing from big wholesale thieves who are stealing their diamonds from Africa. Remember Imperialism is the Highest Stage of Capitalism.

Superman was, in the early years, something of an anti-capitalist superhero, actually, in that he stood up against corrupt bosses, industrialists, etc. I saw an article on it somewhere, no idea where though.
