Why, for example, did the Israelis attack and destroy the headquarters of the Liban-Lait company in the Bekaa Valley, the largest milk factory in Lebanon? Why did they bomb out the factory of the main importer for Proctor and Gamble products in Lebanon, based in Bchmoun? Why did they destroy a paper box factory outside Beirut? And why did Israeli planes attack a convoy of new ambulances being brought into Lebanon from Syria yesterday, vehicles which were the gift of the medical authorities of the United Arab Emirates? The ambulances were clearly marked as a relief aid convoy, according to an Emirates official. Were all these "terrorist" targets? Was the little girl in the field at Tel Harfa a "terrorist" target?

Why isn't the world stopping Israel?

The US vetoes any UN action against them.

Because the west has a convenient fiction that if terrorists have a rank and serial number and are on whatever side benefits them the most, they are to be allowed to do as they please.

US backs Israel. Israel gains immunity. And who wnats to stand up against the US?

Supposedly, the US will be laying out a "diplomatic" solution to the conflict today. We'll have to see how that goes.

Israel has nuclear weapons. That's allowed. Countries likely to condemn these actions are not allowed. You wouldn't want to go against someone who has nuclear weapons when you do not. I mean, that seems logical enough to me, of course that's not universal.

Chavez has spoken out on the subject:

The flame of war is once again ignited over there in the Middle East, and whose fault is it? We cannot say it is the people of Israel, we cannot say that is the people of Palestine,no. It is the North American empire’s fundamental fault, it is the
empire that has armed and supported the abuses of the Israeli elites, which invade, abuse, challenge the United Nations since a long time ago.

Just in:
Rice: Lebanon cease-fire would be 'false promise'.

Translation: We welcome and encourage the continuation of violence.

I swear, if she runs for President, it will make the whole "antichrist" prophesy more credible.

Why?!?!
because the people that can do something and stop israel's terrorism are benefiting from their terror and are not gonna stop them because its in their benifit that this continues.

Some diplomatic solution.

Anyways, the IDF is massing troops near the border; looks like a full-scale invasion is imminent.

The IDF will go in there and kick some Lebanese around for a while, but when Hezbollah rebounds I think the average Israeli soldier is going to be thinking 'WTF are we DOING here?' when they get a tase of their own medicine AGAIN at the hands of probably some of the same fighters that drove them out of Lebanon six years ago.

In any case, the IDF can't fight a really protracted war without massive foreign aid; the proof of the pudding will be when US cargo ships dock in Haifa and start unloading tanks and body bags, just like they always do when Israel goes to war.

Personally, civilian loss of life aside, I'd LOVE to see the IDF try and take Beirut this time...I have a feeling that Hezbollah will be doing a damned good impression of the Soviets at Stalingrad.

Do you think they would need it? They're pretty self-sufficient now, aren't they?
