I had never even heard of her until I watched a Woody Allen movie that referenced her. Anyway, I just wondered about her and so I looked her up. Defector to the U.S., way anti-USSR, the whole bit. As I looked her up though, I came across this little gem on Wikipedia (bolding mine):

Originally posted by Wikipedia+--> (Wikipedia)In 1982 she moved with her daughter to Cambridge, England, and in 1984 returned to the Soviet Union, where she and her daughter were granted citizenship, and settled in Tbilisi, Georgia. Now, this shocked and interested me, as I live in Wisconsin (a state in the US, for my foreign friends). So I ventured to find out more. She goes by Svetlana Alliluyeva as well as Lana Peters, as of 1992. However, at this website (http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=54925) , I found this:

According to this webpage, "Svetlana Alliluyeva is living in a home for senior citizens in western England. She is 75 and does not speak
with anybody."

Indeed, I can find no other references to Svetlana's return to the United States. Is this some Wikipedia editor's idea of a joke, or is she really here? Anyone have any clues or sources?

[Note: I'm not really sure why I'm so interested in this. It appears that even if I could track her down, she wouldn't speak with me. Plus, it would be mean to interfere with the already public and tough life of a now old lady. I'm just fascinated, I guess, with finding out a little bit more.]

Most bio's I've read on her seem to suggest she remained settled in England, only wikipedia really seems to claim she returned to the US

I read the wikipedia article about her a few months ago and I was really interested in that as well. (I live in Minnesota, the neighbor of Wisconsin.) So if anyone knows anything about it, I'd be interested. It almost sounds too strange to be true, Stalin's daughter in a Wisconsin nursing home... so I'm skepitcal of it.

I named my daughter after her (Svetlana Krovina). I wanted my daughter to be able to meet her, so I called around a number of places in Wisconsin. I even called the medical board of the state. She is NOT IN WISCONSIN. I do not know where she is, but it isnt in Wisconsin. I had hopes of meeting her as well.

A.) I find this unlikely.

B.) You do realize she defected, right?

A sploiled little brat, one of Stalin's few mistakes was allowing her this.

Why? What did she even do apart from being Stalin's kid? Her entire claim to fame was her dad.
