View Full Version : Catch-22
General Patton

Although I agree that ignorance is devastating, I am a lover of freedom, and happen to believe that people are free not to seek knowledge. However, as a lover of freedom, I am presented with a catch-22, because these people's right to remain ignorant, is resulting in our electorate being reduced to nothing more than a subject class, which, by itself, threatens the sanctity of freedom. Now, we are witnessing our own government take it a step further by importing armies of illegal aliens that do not share American's foundational ideology or our tradition of a once great participatory democracy. The effort here is to compliment the cynical subject class that we have become with a class of people that will further degrade our citizenry to the rabble of a parochial class. In a sense, the right of the people to remain ignorant threatens that very right. What are your thoughts on this matter?

I've read a bunch of your stupid posts. And I feel the need to reply to one of them.
You do not live in a democracy.
You live in a republic.
The difference being, democracy you represent yourself and only yourself.
In a republic, you elected people to represent you.
Now which is America?
You have driven me to insanity with your posts.

a sentence or two is more than enough, general, which means your paragraph is quite unnecessary.
anyway.. what the hell are you asking here? are you asking for our thoughts on political ignorance, on ignorance in general? are you asking us if ignorance is desirable? are you saying that america, or any place, for that matter, is shittier socio-politically if its people are ignorant?
if so, then this entire thread is pointless.

People should be taught from their earliest years to embrace knowledge and learning, something which unfortunately does not happen in Jesusland.

I'll translate. :D
He means to ask whether we believe in participatory democracy or not.
The answer is yes for me. People shouldn't be forced into anything.
By the way, your whole postis truly foolish.

Yet, you fail to explain why. Perhaps you are the fool. I point to your inability to criticize something in a logical fashion as proof of my statement.

i doubt you've noticed, but your entire post is fucking ridiculous. you're asking for "our thoughts" on people's ignorance, as if you're actually expecting someone to debate the idea that "ignorance is bad."
again, what type of responses do you expect?

Actually, there was much to consider in the original post. The fact that you failed to see it exists as further demonstration of my point, which apparently still eludes you. Really, I apologize for straining your obviously limited mind, by requiring you to think in a potentially different direction that you are use to thinking. As the post asserts, you are free not to expend the energy it might take to crank that little rattle-trap of yours.

ha, how nice! great "considerations," "elusiveness", things beyond people's ordinary logical comprehension.. your posts seem to have no end of metaphysical originality.
how brilliant!
sorry, but you can't really cover up simple points and plain stupidity with appeals to things extraneous of the text. unless you're speaking in riddles or symbols, my dear johannes nagel, you have no excuse for such.. awkwardness.
and, since we're on the subject of stupidity, and awkwardness, please re-consider my offer: condense your sentences and your paragraphs. i understand that our local general patton has better things to do than write effectively (such as, formulating strategies for a possible world war iii outbreak *smile*), but, most of us are debaters, not military men.
so, we'd appreciate if you'd get your head out of your rifle butt (pun intended), and, instead, stick it in a place a little more appropriate, such as a burning oven. but, if you feel as if you can, at some point, debate, and offer clear points, without the addition of any unnecessary words and/or noise, you just might want to stick around.
if not.. well, better get that oven running.

Word to Brooklyn-Mecca. Condensing arguments to say what you what, and only that, keeps your arguments stong and harder to twist. And it helps if you actually debate the responses, as opposed to insulting the one person who managed to figure out what your original topic was... Your argument was foolish in the sense that it lead nowhere and was poorly presented- this is a debate thread, not a creative writing forum and you need to make your points as strongly as possible. Whimsical declarations of loving freedom mean nothing to people who have a different concept of freedom.
To Brroklyn- Was that a reference to Sylvia Plath, or am I that out of it today?

Do you ever reply to relevent posts by people or do you just pick the bit you want to reply to?

Us productive members of society must use our time wisely. I could sit here and refute every single point that the left wingers here try to make point for point. However, I must maximize the utility of my time by being selective in how I use it. It's called opportunity cost. By eating my time up writing countless post to people who no doubt lack the capacity to understand, I am losing time that is better spent writing a best-selling novel, or inventing something that will make me rich. Debating communists is merely a hobby of mine, because Hollywood isn't really making any good comedies right now.
Why? Is there something of yours that you would like a response to. If so, I will be glad to answer, since you asked nicely.

Assuming you are correct and We (the revleft) are very narrow minded, and contain very little mental merit, at least...at the very least PRETEND that we match the swirling vortex of thought and idea that is your mind Mr. Patton.
Just pretend for our sake, and reply with full posts to legitimate responses (whether or not they may baffle us mental dwarves) just so that we may have a sample of your majesty.

You get a sample everytime I write a sentence on this message board. You should be thanking your lucky stars that I choose to take the time to educate you people.
Besides, I just looked through this thread, and I don't see one response to the original post that I would consider to be worthy of a response. There was some guy who doesn't think that the United States is an example of a democracy. Is that the sort of critical thinking that I am supposed to waste my time on?

Sweet shit! I was just joking around with the whole "Your Majesty". I was just poking some fun...but fuck... You're really that stuck up just because of our idealogy?
Despite our difference we're all human in the end mate, at least show some kind of respect whether it is a sliver of it or not.

So instead you spam? That hardly seems "economical".
In any case, at this point I've quite had enough of this crap. Consider yourself warned.
There was some guy who doesn't think that the United States is an example of a democracy.
That's because it's a republic, not a democracy. Don't you even know how your own country is constituted?

That's funny you are the one accusing me of being ignorant, but you don't seem to grasp the concept of what constitutes a democracy. I suggest that you take a political science course and try real hard to follow the currently established guidelines for what defines democracy. It's true that the United States is a republic. However, there are some fundamental differences between our form of republic and China's. Do you want to venture a guess as to what those key differences are?

i'm afraid you might be a little confused, so let me explain.
when people read books, they sometimes pick up on phrases and ideas quite unconsciously, thus replicating the tone and mannerisms of the author. so, it's quite possible that sylvia plath once advised someone to stick his head into a burning oven.. i wouldn't know, but even if she did, i'm sure that particular advice, from me to you, is much more justified than her advice, from her to someone else.
normally, i wouldn't explain the effects of reading to an ordinary person, but that's because ordinary people are usually literate. under your tragic circumstances, however, drastic action needs to be taken.. one needs to speak to you as one would speak to an infant with uncontrollable diarrhea, the difference being, of course, that your diarrhea is of the mouth, and of the mind. something tells me your anal excrement is much more musical.. and certainly more substantial.
so, in the future, you might want to sit on the keyboard with your ass, not with your fingers. might make for a little more interesting conversation.
I am losing time that is better spent writing a best-selling novel...
why don't you sign a record contract with a rap group while you're at it? i think your "i am proud to be an american/ cause at least i know i'll eat" rhymes might be right at g-unit's daunting aptitude.
but, if you ever do write a novel, i suggest you get it published by harlequin. something tells me that it's the only publisher on your.. level. who knows, maybe you'll even be blessed by a critical review from dale peck, as even he admitted to once reading a lot of trashy books in his youth.
i'm sure he'll enjoy your trashy book very much, as well.
good night.
