I sent out an e-mail to lots of people on my email list and the subject was about Cuba. I research on some sites that some of you provided and read some facts and what not and wrote about Fidel < Che and the revolution. --- I got a reply and I want you guy to look at it and tell me what you think. What would you say? what points would you bring up in reply to this...
HERE's THE E-MAIL...
There are two sides to every story - this is a conversation I'd love to have in person some time...
...but Che and Casto, although strong purpose-driven leaders have their bad sides as well. Revolution is great - revolution is often needed. The problem with revolution is that innocents usually get hurt. Sure this one tragic outcome may be small in comparison to the larger historical and cultural benefits - but I think it is important that we recognize that violence in any form is something that should be avoided whenever possible. Perhaps I'm lame in visioning a world where people are able to talk through their differences - I understand this is not an option in many cases. But with all your revolutionary preaching I feel the need to remind you that the masses are ready and waiting to follow the person willing to guide them, whoever that may be, you can be strong and persuasive without killing - take Gandhi for instance.
