Is there anything this site can do to send our support?

As a 'leftist' movement we should show solidarity with any prisoners of imperialism.

As an 'ethically aware' movement we should double our support.

Yes, you can send cards and letters to the POWs. Write to the British and Irish governments and demand repatritation of these men.

There are many other POWs in the free state and 6 occupied counties. Go to the CGRP (http://www.cgrp.info) and Irish Freedom Committee (http://www.irishfreedomcommittee.net) websites for more info.

They're still in jail just 'cause they were in the IRA or did they actually kill some British soldiers or bomb UK buildings?

There have been a few attacks in England, but no security forces have been killed in the war since the '90s. The 'real' IRA shot a rocket into MI5 headquarters (British version of the FBI) and they bombed the BBC offices in London.

AFAIK, these men are jailed for membership only.

Yes membership or weapons charges. But in many, many cases there is no evidence for this. In the Free State you can be arrested and sentenced to 5 years on a superintenant's word alone with no evidence.
