Violent Revolution - The way to go?

I've heard a lot of leftists talking about how they admire Gandhi and his non-violent politics, some of they are anarchists.
I really don't know whether I'd volunteer to violent revolution. Somewhat I'm a pacifist and don't believe in violence... but is the price that you are going to pay?
